Sarah Palin is
the new American high priestess of the Church of the Corporate Whore of Babylon-Iraq
parading in the garb of a fundamentalist Christian. May the prayers of drowning Polar Bears be heard in heaven before a word of hers. Alhough, not my will, but Thine be done.

Contempt of Parliament
If the PM brings down his own government without asking the governor general to allow someone else to form a cabinet that could secure the support of the majority of the members of the House, then Harper should be charged with contempt of parliament for violating the spirit and the letter of the new parliamentary term law.

McCain's VP, a future Pres and Canadian ally
From Moveon.org Who is Sarah Palin? Here's some basic background:
* She was elected Alaska's governor a little over a year and a half ago. Her previous office was mayor of Wasilla, a small town of 9000 outside Anchorage. She has no foreign policy experience.
* Palin is strongly anti-choice, opposing abortion even in the case of rape or incest.
* She supported right-wing extremist Pat Buchanan for president in 2000.
* Palin thinks creationism should be taught in public schools.
* She's doesn't think humans are the cause of climate change.
* She's solidly in line with John McCain's "Big Oil first" energy policy. She's pushed hard for more oil drilling and says renewables won't be ready for years. She also sued the Bush administration for listing polar bears as an endangered species—she was worried it would interfere with more oil drilling in Alaska.
* How closely did John McCain vet this choice? He met Sarah Palin once at a meeting. They spoke a second time, last Sunday, when he called her about being vice-president. Then he offered her the position.

Blair Wilson 2
The deeper you go into Blair Wilson's problems as a Liberal, the more obvious it becomes that they were rooted in the problems his wife was having with her stepfather after the death of her mother, it was the stepfather who accused his son-in-law and stepdaughter of violating election laws, nearly all of which were proven to be unfounded. It's all dirty family laundry. Finding the truth in the matter is likely to prove difficult for even the fairest minded person around - and that's definitely not me. Wilson said he went Green to move the country forward, he has. The Greens will still outpoll the Conservatives in Guelph, because just like John McCain, the Tories don't 'get it." And never will, or at least not until they're choking to death on their own stupidity.
Blair Wilson 1st Green MP
While some people are complaining that he 'crossed the floor' after being elected as a Liberal, the fact is the Liberals dumped him after he was investigated for elections financing issues (for which he was by and large cleared, which is why he kept his seat.) He sat as an independent because the Liberals wouldn't have him back. I don't pretend to know anything about the man, or his problems, however, even though he was falsely accused of breaking the law, the stink of those charges remain. Traces of which have attached themselves to the Greens. He says he became a Green so that Elizabeth May could get onto the TV debates, which may or may not be true, however certain her participation now is because of Wilson. With three green thinking parties representing the majority of Canadian voters, it will be that much more obvious that Harper and his supporters have nothing useful to say about the future. The voters of BC can deal with Wilson as a Green, turn the compost and it stops stinking.
Phony right wing libertarianism
The right trumpets itself as defenders of individual rights versus state authority, but surrenders independent socio-economic power to the most non-libertarian force on the planet: corporate globalism. Like Mike Harris's Lack of Common Sense Revolution: on the surface it's all about the individual being free from the state but in the pale and sickly underbelly it's really about allowing conglomerates to chain free enterprise and underwrite the costs of buying off all hopes of fairness.

Palin republican VP
Certainly an interesting move, but just because the media is talking about it doesn't mean there is a taste for more conservative hypocrisy. A servant of the oiligarchy like McCain, Palin has nothing to say about the future. The pursuit of private property and profit, which is the principle of moral decay as described by Plato in The Republic more than 2500 years ago, guides all republics through their phases from rule by military and priests, to rule by the monied and the police, to democratic consumerism to rule by a popular tyrant. Conservative back-pedalling will not restore the dying oiligarchy. They're on the wrong side of history. Period. Dinosaurs die.
Did America just wake up ?
Watching the Democratic Convention last night I re-examined my anti-Americanism. Usually consumed by the arrogance of power & unable to differentiate between what educator SA O'Neill distinguished as Freedom Not License, the US often believes they are 'free' to do what they want to whomever they want. The neo-con nightmare first arose out of right wing losses in WW2, but the revival of neo-fascism in the US was endorsed in the last two elections & echoed in Canada; small-minded, mean-spirited, cold-hearted corporate capitalism, gulag republicanism & heretical fundamentalist Christianity may now be history. Somebody say amen.

Harper should Resign
Precedent is to be found in British Commons and earlier Canadian parliamentary practice. If a PM can't win support for himself or his cabinet in a divided House,he goes to the governor general, surrenders parliament and the GG asks someone else in the house to attempt to form a cabinet-ie. government. Harper can't break his own four year term law without turning his law and order mask inside out, but he desperately needs to drop a general election writ so he can shut down the Green Party in Guelph, who along with the electorate in this city are about to humiliate his acolyte Gloria Kovach. Harper knows the Reform Party started with a by-election win followed by 52 seats in the general election that followed that win. He's afraid his Oil and Eastern banker-backed Regressive Conservative Republicans will become as fossilized as their fuel source once he stands onstage against Elizabeth May, Dion, Layton and the Bloc in a televised debate, he'll look lke the Bush League dogsbody he is. He thinks that by dropping the writ and breaking the new law the by-election will have to be extended to a date beyond the length of Green purse strings. Most Canadians voted against Harper and his right to form a government in the last election. He made the law, old parliamentary practice will ensure the continuity of the elected House. Resign Stephen. Now.
