Pro-Semitism

Only a sophist can rationalize the murders of nearly a thousand innocent Palestinians and blame Hamas while absolving Israel. In Canada, it's called partisan politics; there are more Jews than Muslims here, so it's alright to kill Muslims and not alright to blame Israel because there are more votes to be gained, that's why both Libs and Cons are falling over themselves to support Israel. Israel is NOT a liberal democracy, it is a reactionary democracy. Both Jews and Arabs are Semites, so it is NOT anti-Semitic to oppose the murder of Palestinians by Jews, it's pro-Semitism. I am a pro-Semite. I am not opposed to the existence of Israel. And yet I KNOW that Israel has committed 60 years of atrocities against Palestinians. This MUST STOP. This is NOT an eye for eye. This is a hundred eyes for one eye.

The only elixir for this is an open dialogue. Unfortunately our "leaders" are doing everything they can to squelch debate, discourse and dissension regarding this issue. Sadly, the media (and a large part of academia too) is complicit as well, at least out of fear.

Mark Levine writes:

"Israel was born out of the ashes of the Holocaust as a beacon of hope. But to really understand the country’s troubled present, we need journalists to look beyond one sided narratives and to offer up a more accurate picture of what’s happened in the past and what’s going on today"

This same deliberate censorship reinforces the status quo where extremists on both sides set the agenda: on one side, the terrorists, and on the other, those who seek to maintain the untenable project of ethnocracy -- regardless of the cost.

What is also apparent is that many of these same sectors of Canadian society were utterly indifferent to to Jewish rights 70 years ago, it's like they are all suffering some shared post-Holocaust guilt for their original anti-Semitism, and are now masking their original anti-Jewish positions with this new form of anti-Semitism.

It is back to the Old Story, "I was once a victim, now its my turn". The Zionist guardians here in North America do not see the vitriol on their own side. There is no shortage of of hatred there.

There was a time not long ago in our history when anti-semitism was an institutionalised mainstay of government policy, and also part of the cultural ferment at the time. Cultural sensitivities at any given point in history define Zeitgeist, however at this point in history, the pendulum has swung so far in the opposite direction, that we now have developed a cultural hypersensitivity (due to collective post-Holocaust guilt and the lucrative exploitation thereof) to all matters involving the Jewish people, so much so, that any fibre of objectivity has taken a backseat. Ressentiment is the order of the day.
