Taliban want Jack Layton to win

That's the word from Afghanistan apparently, we want the guy who wants to pull out. I'm sorry, but I actually believe that Dick Cheney is the head of the Taliban.

Seems to me that this whole mess of Al Qaeda and the Taliban are essentially problems that the USA itself created back in the Reagan era, when they armed and trained these groups to fight the Soviets in the 80s. Now that monster has come back to bite them.

We should we let the Americans clean up their own mess, and deploy our troops only when it is in our direct interest - instead of letting ourselves get sucked into this neo-con military-industrial agenda, and, gain lots of new enemies in the process.

I think Dick Cheney has vanished back into the cave that he used to access the surface of the earth when he tried to escape the molten places below. He has disappeared from the scene.

The really obscene thing is how the christian right in America (and their minions here in Canada) have really transmogrified their own religions, in a vain attempt to use (and abuse) politics to "immanentize the eschaton".

Had to look up immanentize the eshcaton. I tend to think of those things the way King David did, I shall know the goodness of the Lord in the Land of the Living. Which may not mean heaven on earth, but just enough of it to know we're not alone.
